Opel Cascada - the world presentation of the convertible took place in March 2013 at the Geneva Motor Show. The style of the body, as well as the ergonomics of the front panel, largely repeat the Astra. It is noteworthy that the front suspension (McPherson struts with spaced steering knuckles) is borrowed from the three-door Astra GTC. Therefore, the management of the Cascada will be more reckless than the five-door Astra. The design of the rear chassis includes a semi-independent beam with a Watt mechanism that simulates an independent suspension.
The length of the convertible is 4,696 mm, so Cascada uses elements from Opel Insignia. At the same time, under the bottom of the open two-door, there is a structure of pipes-amplifiers, which additionally “reinforce” the body of the convertible and make it more rigid.
The automatic folding roof of the Opel Cascada is made of soft material and in addition to three color options (coffee, black and burgundy), the buyer can also choose a version with improved sound insulation, which is provided by an additional layer of polyester. The roof can be folded at speeds up to 50 km / h, and the process of lowering it takes just 17 seconds from six hydraulic cylinders.
The range of gasoline engines includes two modifications of a 1.4-liter engine, as well as a 1.6-liter power plant. The list of diesel units consists of two-liter engines with 165 and 195 hp:
petrol engine 1.4 NEL Turbo (120 hp, 200 Nm);
petrol engine 1.4 NEL Turbo (140 hp, 200 Nm);
petrol engine 1.6 XHT Turbo (170 hp, 260 Nm);
turbocharged diesel 2.0 DTH (165 hp, 350 Nm);
diesel with double supercharging 2.0 DTR BiTurbo (195 hp, 400 Nm).
The standard gearbox is a six-speed "mechanics". A six-band automatic is provided only for a 1.6-liter gasoline unit, as well as for a 165-horsepower diesel engine. A feature of the petrol version with automatic transmission is the Overboost mode, which is activated by a "kick-down" of the gas pedal and increases peak torque from 260 to 280 Nm.
Sales Opel Cascada in Ukraine began at the end of spring 2013. To us, as well as to the European market, the convertible is delivered from the company's plant in the Polish city of Gliwice.
