Opel Insignia station wagon - the world premiere of the station wagon took place at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2009. It is noteworthy that two five-door projects were originally developed. The first option was unsightly in appearance, but super-practical. He was opposed by a spectacular design project. In the end, the second option won. By the way, that is why the station wagon was called the Sports Tourer, and not the Caravan, as was the case with the Vectra, which was not particularly elegant. At the same time, the fact that beauty became the winner does not mean that practicality turned out to be the losers. The trunk volume of the station wagon is 540 liters - slightly more than Volvo V60 and slightly less than, for example, five-door Ford Mondeo or Toyota Avensis.

In addition, along with the debut of the Opel Insignia Sports Tourer, the range of power plants available for the Insignia family has also been updated. The two-liter petrol engine and three-liter six-cylinder diesel engine were replaced by a 1.6-liter turbo engine (180 hp, 230 Nm) and a two-liter diesel “four” with dual supercharging (190 hp, 400 Nm). The latter unit is offered exclusively in Europe, from diesel engines to the Ukrainian market, only a unit with a single turbine 2.0 DTH Ecotec (160 hp, 350 Nm) is supplied, which can be paired with a “mechanics” for six gears or a six-speed automatic.

The list of gasoline engines, in addition to the 180-horsepower engine, includes a 1.8-liter “aspirated” (140 hp, 175 Nm) and turbocharged units with a volume of 1.4 (140 hp, 200 Nm), 2 (depending on modifications of 220 or 250 hp, 350 Nm) and 2.8 liters (260 hp, 350 Nm and 325 hp, 435 Nm for the sports version of Insignia OPC). Automatic transmission is only available for 220 hp engines. and higher.

All modifications with a 2.8-liter engine are all-wheel drive. For a surcharge, the Adaptive 4x4 system is available only for versions with two-liter gasoline and diesel engines.

The list of additional equipment for the station wagon offers advanced Infiniti “music”, several options for leather upholstery, adaptive headlights, and active suspension.

The Opel Insignia Sports Tourer is produced in Germany.
