Opel Insignia sedan- the car got its name from the 2003 concept, which was later to turn into the Opel Omega. Nevertheless, "Omega", as you know, has sunk into oblivion and the name went to a new model, which was decided to replace two families at once - both Vectra and Omega. The name itself comes from the Latin word insigne, which translates as "emblem", "sign".
The car was built on the new global platform of General Motors, which is also used on Chevrolet Malibu and Buick Regal. McPherson struts are installed in the front suspension, one of two multi-link options is used at the rear: simpler for front-wheel drive versions and more difficult for all-wheel drive versions. Compared to the Vectra, the Insignia turned out to be noticeably larger: 219 mm longer, 58 mm wider and 38 mm higher. It became more spacious inside.
For Opel Insignia a wide range of power plants is available. Some versions are permanently stocked by dealers, while others are available on special order only. The list of engines includes petrol and diesel engines ranging from 140 to 325 hp. The most powerful engine is available exclusively for the sports version of the Opel Insignia OPC.
The basic gearbox is a six-speed "mechanics", but for a 160-horsepower turbodiesel, as well as gasoline units with a capacity of over 220 hp. A six-band automatic is also offered.
Opel Insignia is sold in four basic trim levels: Essentia, Edition, Cosmo and OPC. Not only the list of basic equipment depends on the performance, but also the list of available power units and additional equipment, which in some trim levels can be offered for a fee, and in others it can be present in the “base”. Among the interesting equipment available for the model, it is worth noting:
all-wheel drive system Adaptive 4x4, which is offered only for versions with turbocharged engines ranging from 250 to 325 hp. It uses the fourth generation Haldex center clutch, which can transfer up to 100% of torque to the rear wheels. In addition, a rear cross-axle differential is offered for a surcharge (standard for the OPC sports variant);
adaptive chassis FlexRide. Three driving modes are available to the driver: Tour, Normal and Sport. In each of them, not only the degree of resistance of electromagnetic shock absorbers changes, but also the sharpness of the steering wheel, the reaction of the engine to the gas pedal and the algorithms of the gearbox;
adaptive bi-xenon headlights AFL, which can not only automatically switch from far to near, but also, depending on the speed and angle of rotation, choose the most optimal lighting;
traffic sign recognition system Opel eye.
In addition, in the list of options you can order Infiniti premium acoustics, orthopedic seats, leather trim, spectacular rims.
Opel Insignia is produced in Germany.
